Laurel Hill Farm & Preserve
On a Mission to preserve
Our mission is to share the sacred abundance of nature with others. We are protectors and educators, and we seek to reveal the interconnectedness between nature and human beings through sustainable living and farming practices that embrace and respect the land we are a part of. Our hope is to foster a deep love of nature, to encourage living in harmony with nature, and to promote conservation of the land through education.
We consider ourselves the current stewards of the amazing nature preserve, Laurel Hill. This 240-acre jewel is nestled in the North Carolina Piedmont, 20 miles northwest of Charlotte. It is home to several microclimates supporting an astounding variety of flora, fauna, and fungi. Laurel Hill is home to the largest native population of the rare and threatened tree species Big Leaf Magnolia (Magnolia macrophylla). These trees occur in only a few places in North Carolina and 95% of all the wild-growing Big Leaf Magnolias in the state are found right here in Gaston County.
